Raising
Standards, Mentoring & Courses
In order to elevate the intellectual, spiritual and
educational standards of the community a number of
ventures and projects have been instigated.
Governors Club
The Governors Club operates to encourage and
motivate community members especially under
represented groups, to become governors at
primary/secondary schools, colleges and higher
education institutions. Consequently, they can
be part of the policy formulation and
implementation body which is directly engaged in
advancing the education of their own and the
community's children.
Most
Muslim children attend state run schools (e.g.
approx 500,000 British Muslim children in
full-time UK state school education). The
challenges that face Muslim pupils in terms of
academic attainment and how their spiritual, and
religious needs are being met should be a source
of concern for all of us. As part of a national
programme and strategy, TFI in conjunction with
like-minded partners, aim to bring about real
change through greater participation from the
Muslim community in education.

There are
many issues which affect children including
underachievement, bullying, drugs and crime, identity,
etc - we endeavour to be part of the process which will
resolve and improve some or all of these problems.
The Homework Club
The Homework Club is arranged on a regular basis to
assist in elevating the education standards of children
especially those belonging to the underachieving groups.
Subjects studied include Sciences, Maths, English, IT,
etc.
Surveys, Data Gathering & Reports
In order to ascertain the needs of the community and
bridge intellectual bridges between stakeholders so as
to raise education standards & improve social/moral
behaviour of children ongoing surveys and questionnaires
are composed, then carried out.
Education Help-line Professional Advice/ Mentoring
Our network of professional mentors are available on an
ongoing basis to provide course and careers advice as
and when needed. The 'Careers Advice & Mentoring Group'
is working to provide advice to young people in the age
group 14 -19 years through a mentoring programme. This
programme will further assist in consolidating and
improving the decision making process for young people
especially those who are lacking direction and/or belong
to the underachieving group.
